Are your windows fogged or just dirty?
We often get called out to jobs because the customer is concerned that their windows are fogged and feel the need to order a replacement. We head out to the job only to discover that the windows are just extremely dirty.
Don’t be alarmed – cleaning the windows inside and out typically isn’t in your standard Sunday cleaning schedule.
I’m the token office clean freak, and it certainly isn’t in mine!
However, it’s something you might want to check before making the phone call to have us come out. Here are some tips to clean your windows and determine if they are really foggy or just need a good cleaning.
The best way to clean your windows...
If you do realize that your windows are just dirty, here’s the best way we’ve discovered to clean them:
Fill a bucket with warm water and a splash of grease fighting dish soap.
Soak a clean rag in the bucket of water, and use it to scrub the window.
Take a clean towel and wipe the window dry. Make sure to get the frame and sill dry, too!
Fill an empty spray bottle halfway with distilled vinegar and fill the other half with warm water.
Spray this mixture on the window, and wipe it with a clean rag.
Repeat this process on the outside of the window as well.
It might take some elbow grease, but this is a great, non-toxic way to get all of the dirt and grime off of your windows without having to replace them.

How do you know when your window is fogged?
You know your window is fogged when moisture starts to build up inside of the window and you can't wipe it off from either side. This usually means that the seal has broken in the insulated glass unit, and, unfortunately, there’s not much you can do to repair this.
